Nursery for children under the age of four is available. The nursery allows babies to be cared for in a safe and loving environment while their parents attend the church worship service.
While the main focus is making sure that children are safe and happy, we also engage them in various activities such as singing, reading Bible stories, drawing, identifying letters and coloring pictures.
Children and Youth Ministry
Jesus said to His disciples, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14). Jesus loves children, and so do we.
Children’s Sunday school is a place for reaching children and youth with the Good News of Jesus Christ. In Sunday school, the Good News of God’s unconditional love through Christ is communicated through Bible lessons, Amharic and English songs, dramas, and various classroom activities.
The Bible instructs us to “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). We strive to help children to come to know God through His Word, and learn to obey His Word, as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Children and Youth ministry is available for Pre-school to Junior and High school students on Sundays from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
We look forward to seeing you.
In II Peter 3:18, we are commanded to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The purpose of the young adults’ ministry is to nurture young adults to get to know, love, and serve the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:29).
With regular fellowship meetings, the young adult ministry strives to encourage members and visitors through worship, prayer and the Word of God. The youth of AEEC seek to be examples to the young people in our community, as they flourish in Christ-likeness, and grow in sharing the Gospel.
The young adult group has special services every Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM; and also has an annual summer retreat, in which we spend a weekend worshipping God, studying God’s Word, and enjoying fellowship together. The young adult ministry also helps in organizing AEEC’s annual summer conference.
We are called to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). The AEEC congregation loves to worship exalt, and praise the Lord our God through songs. We have two choir groups and a team of singers and musicians who are dedicated to the ministry of praise and worship to the Lord through music. These teams praise the Lord with the congregation during church services.
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the Lord is the great God,
And the great King above all gods” (Psalm 95:1-3).

Serving the Lord
Deacons are chosen by God and the Congregation (Acts 6:1-8). The ministry of deacons facilitates the unity and fellowship of the church.
Deacons extend the love and support of Christ to members of the church. They prepare and serve the Lord’s Supper to the Congregation on the second Sunday of the month. They encourage members who are facing various life challenges by visiting, praying, and sharing the Word of God with them. Deacons also help coordinate and facilitate special events and celebrations in the church.
Serving with deacons, church ushers stand ready to assist members and visitors during church services.
Christianity, the Bible, and faith. All high school students are welcome.
Jesus commissioned the church saying, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).
The focus of the Great Commission ministry of AEEC is to train and equip believers to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in their neighborhoods. The church sends out action groups to Maryland, DC and Virginia to conduct personal evangelism by sharing Gospel Tracts, and speaking to individuals of the redemptive work of Christ.
AEEC also proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the Radio. The focus of the Radio ministry is to reach out to the Ethiopian Community in the Washington metro area with the message of Christ. You can listen to the Radio broadcast on 1120 AM every Sunday from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

The Power of Prayer
Our Lord Jesus Christ has commanded us to pray unceasingly, and by His own example demonstrated the importance of prayer (Matt. 6:5-15; Matt. 26:36-41). Therefore, we believe that prayer plays an important role at the AEEC, and in the lives of believers.
The ministry of prayer helps the Word of God to spread and to bear much fruit, and to inspire the manifestation and work of the Holy Spirit. The results are that believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship and serve the Lord wholeheartedly.
The prayer team at AEEC meets regularly to pray on various prayer concerns of members and non-members; for AEEC and its ministries, and for leaders and for the nations. In addition, AEEC has regular prayer service on Friday evenings from 7:00 to 9:30 PM.
Our Lord Jesus Christ came as one who serves and has commanded us to do likewise (Luke 22:24-27). Jesus commands us to feed the hungry, to clothe the needy, to care for the sick, and to visit those in prison (Matt. 25:34-40). AEEC is dedicated to the mission of serving the whole person – spirit, soul, and body.
When people arrive in the United States, they may have housing, job, and health-related needs. The holistic ministry’s goal is to provide help to those individuals in our community through prayer, pastoral counseling and by helping to connect them with organizations which provide related resources.

AEEC believe that social media like Facebook, Twitter, and a church blog, we can easily communicate directly with people in our congregation and other believers and non-believers, throughout the day and week.
Technology makes it easy for us to a greater sense of community that doesn’t demand proximity.
