We seek the truth about Jesus.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

our Story

Amanuel Ethiopian Evangelical Church (AEEC) is a Christian Congregation located in Alexandria, Virginia. AEEC started on April 4, 1993 in Takoma Park, Maryland with a small group of believers, and is now reaching the Ethiopian community in the metropolitan Washington DC area, and around the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We strive to continue reaching our community with the life transforming Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through the various local ministries of AEEC, and by radio and the internet.  We welcome you to our regular Sunday and Mid-week Services, and hope our website will give you an insight of our church and its services.

What We Believe

We Believe

We believe that there is one true God, who has revealed Himself as eternally existing without any cause, and who is the Creator of heaven and earth. We believe in the Trinity of God, as one God consisting of three persons: God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; Isa. 44:6; Matt. 28:19; John 17:1-4; 1 Cor. 12:4-6; Eph. 4:30).

We Believe

  • We believe that the Holy Bible (the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) as originally written was verbally inspired and the product of Spirit-controlled men, and therefore has truth without any admixture of error for its matter.  We believe the Bible to be the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions shall be tried (Matt. 24:35; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet 1:21).

We Believe

  • We believe that mankind was created in the image of God, but by his willful choice, ignored God’s instructions and fell into sin, and brought about physical and spiritual death, and separation from God (Gen. 1:26, 27; Gen. 2:16, 17; Gen. 3:6; John 1:12; Rom.3:23-25).

We Believe

  • We believe that we are called to be holy, because God is holy. Holiness or sanctification is an act of separating from evil, and of identifying and dedicating ourselves to God. We believe that the Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers through His gifts and by empowering the Church, the body of Christ (John 17:15; Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Thess. 5:23; 1 Peter 1:16).

We Believe

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. We believe that the Church is the body of Christ; and the dwelling place of God through the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Church consists of people who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation from sin, regardless of age, gender, race, or denomination. We believe that each Christian is an integral part and parcel of the Church, and that the names of all true believers are written in heaven (Matt. 16:18; 1 Cor. 3:11; Eph. 1:22, 23; Heb. 12:23; 1 Pet. 2:8, 9; Rev. 13:8; Rev. 17:8).

We Believe

  • We believe that Christ has made every provision for the fulfillment of His Great Commission of the Church. We believe that the Church’s mission is to act as an agency of God for evangelizing to the local community and to the world; worshipping God as a unified body; and building a body of Christians mature in the faith and knowledge of Christ (Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 12:13; Rev. 19:10; Gal. 5:22-26; Eph. 4:11-16).

We Believe

  • We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to establish His kingdom;  He will raise the dead and judge all human beings, the wicked shall be separated from God’s presence, but the righteous shall live with Him forever and that this “blessed hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and services of the believer (Dan 12:2; Matt. 24:30, 31; Matt. 25:31, 32; Acts 1:11; 1 Cor. 15:51-54; Titus 2:13; 1 Thess. 4:16, 17; Rev. 20:11-15).

We Believe

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Alfa and Omega, the beginning and the end, who became flesh, born of a virgin and conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, who came to earth to fulfill the will of His Father. We believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, and that He died on the cross as a substitute for the sins of mankind. We believe that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the power of God, and that He is exalted, and seated at the right hand side of His Father (Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:31-35; Heb. 7:26; 1 Cor. 15:3; Matt. 28:6; Phil. 2:9-11, Rev. 1:8).

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

1 Corinthians 1:10

  • Our mission is to proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ – His life, death, resurrection and His return, so that people would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and discover the new life in Christ (John 3:16-17; Rom. 5:10-11; 2 Cor. 5:16-18; Col. 1:20)

Our vision is to help individuals be reconciled with God, and person to persons by thus proclaiming the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and through the teachings of the Word of God, so that believers should grow in Christ-likeness.
